A couple of years ago i had the bright idea of reviewing my friends Ipods. Fun and games for all he family and it included my niece Kristin's fave music. Today, I bring you my Great-Niece and Great-Nephew, Kristin's kids, playlists.
First my Great- Niece, Lindsay, a lovely young lady and vey very smart but with an odd taste for… LMFAO!!!!
1. Party Rock Anthem – LMFAO – "It's really upbeat and easy to dance to," Lindsay says.
2. Sexy And I Know It – LMFAO I might add that the Gordy boys are completly unthreatening, almost goofy looking, so their claims to sexiness can be ignored.
3. Sorry for Party Riocking – LMFAO
4. Stereo Hearts – Gym Class Heroes – "I like Adam Levine ," Lindsay claims with a heck of a lot of prodding from. I've liked Adam since he blew down the house at MSG a couple of years ago.
5. Dj's got Us Falling In Love Again – Usher – featuring Pitbull, and Helen will be happy to know that Pitbull is a lot of people's fave here. Possibly because we are so near area code 305.
6. Tik Tok – Ke$ha – The kids and their Grandma are watching a video with $ throwing up. Well, quite.
7. I Set Fire To the Rain – Adele – No excuse for this one but Lindsay's only 10 so I'll forgive her!
8. Paparazzi – Lady Gaga – the shock here is that in Lindsay years, this was released… 30% of her life ago. Which says more than I can about La Gaga's staying power.
9. California Girls – Katy Perry – The first hit off Katy's back in the charts second album.
10. International Love – Pitbull – Yup, here ihe s again. What does this have in common with with the rest of the list. More than heavy modern dance music, it is solely modern dance music. Can you see a rock song? I can't. The only ballad is the Adele, more a testament to Adele's ubiquity than Lindsay's love of overblown lachromose soft sells.
On to Andrew, who shows some diversity…
1. You Spin Me Round – Dead or Alive – Andrew says he likes to singalong with it. I bet he has heard Flo Rida's sample. "No I haven't… Andrew retorts.
2. Livin' On A Prayer – Bon Jovi – "I've heard Mommy siinging".
3. I Love Rock N Roll – Joan Jett – Good to see my friend Joanie still getting love from the youngsters.
4. Get A Haircut Now – George Thorogood – Blues stomper, "It makes me jump up and down"
5. I Like To Move It – The Party Cats – "I like to move it, move it…" he sings along
6. Bad Day – Daniel Pewter – "Don't forget this one…." Hmm, OK!
7. Great Balls Of Fire – Jerry lee Lewis – back to the start!
8. Hit The Road Jack – Ray Charles – I have a great video of Andrew singing this aA capella back when he was only 5!
9. I Can't Drive 55 – Sammy Hagar – Neither could his Daddy!
10. I Gotta Feeling – The Black Eyed Peas – Bringing us close to the present with the song that made David Guetta a star!
So there is a quick glimpse of what the tweens of today are listening to. My bet is Lindsay is the more typical of the two. Thanks and a milling kisses to my Great Niece and Great Nephew for a sneak peak into what America's youth are doing with their new found musical toys!!!
