Just like Village Voice rock journalist Rob Harvilla and everybody else in the audience I was was blown away byTune-Yards opening set for the Dirty Projectors late last year. Using a delay loop she recorded herself and then harmonized with herself. The effect was excellent as were her songs.
Harvilla has a first rate interview with Tune-Yards in the current Voice and it is a must read. As revealing a piece of music journalism as I have read in a long time and if for his connecting Tune-Yards to Vampire Weekend due to their exploration of African music or wondering what sort of a kindergarten teacher she would make, this is a must read.
