The Shins are way cool. The Shins are the Gods of Hipsters. The Shins single handedly made hipsters hip.
The Shins are brilliant. Why? Cuz even though they're repulsive plaid shirt wearing, bearded hip wads, their music transcends their annoying qualities. THIS alone my friends is note worthy. There are far too many hipster bands (for 'hipster' should be an official genre) that make me want to pour steaming latte into my ears to rid myself of the sound.
The Shins take smart and clever lyrics and add interesting melody. Their songs have great hooks, cool stories and vocally- wonderful.
So what a glorious follow up to Mr Jack White of last week. With host Jonah Hill, I'm happy the time has arrived…..
I'm pleased but not surprised that they opted to do "Simple Song", I really like it. As mature and grey as they appear they still have a great youthful sound. This is simply a good pop song performed well if not robotic.
I suppose I should hate them but I cant. They have a realness to them that alot of hipster bands simply don't. They're keepers.
