Michael Malone Celebrated His 40th B-52's Concert On Sunday

The first time I saw the B-52s, they were opening for Talking Heads at a packed to Fire Department complaints CBGBs -late 1970s, early 1980s Like that. But I've only seen them twice seen then.

Unlike my friend and uber-B-52s fan Michael Malone who went to his 40th B-52s concert on Sunday night. FORTY TIMES!!! I tend to see a band I like once or maybe twice on a tour (in New York they tend to hit us coming or going) so I am in awe of Mr. Party Out Of Bounds boys stamina.

I asked Mike which concerts stood out: "Four shows stand out. My 1st in 93, central park Summer Stage in 02, CBGB'S 94? And the anniversary show last month. Monday  night ch 13 10:30…tune in

"I remember three things about first show…Cindy came back and wore a silver turban. Studying Fred playing the glockenspiel and getting goose bumps hearing private Idaho live."

That's very cool, right? Actually, if I had been aware of their 35th anniversary gig and if it had been in NYC and not their hometown Athens, GA I might have gone. The show is available on DVD on Tuesday

Congrats to Mike and the B-52s… long may they continue to dance this mess around.
