J.D. Salinger’s book about a teenage boy dealing with everyday hypocrisy Catcher In The Rye is the second most important tome in rock history though time has proven it to be superior to On The Road. The story of a teenage boy in New York City after being expelled from his Upstate boarding school, Catcher In The Rye question the two facedness of society and how it corrupts the young.
To Salinger’s credit the book even withstood the repulsive monster who murdered John Lennon and was found reading the novel calmly by the police.
J. D. Salinger stopped writing entirely by 1963 and has been considered a complete recluse since then though Catcher was certainly not his own great work.
It is hard to imagine any one just saying NO to everything. No movie, no musical, no nothing.
RIP J.D.
