1. Yester-Me, Yester-You, Yester-day – Stevie Wonder- Listening to Fred Hammond the past couple of days got me thinking about the dearth of greats soul songs. The difference between Wonder and even an 80s wonder like Babyface, or a legend like Hammond, isn't content or sound, it is tune. The tunes aren't strong enough. This tune, off My Cherie Amour, stood out in 1969, in 2012 it would be greeted like the second coming.

2. One Nation Under A Groove – Funkadelic – The highlight of the pretty good concert on Thursday, has one of Clinton's greatest shout outs to the funk.

3. She's The Woman – Van Halen – OK, I give. Eddie can play guitar. He sounds like a fire engine rumbling under a clitoris.

4. Year Of The Tiger – Fucked Up – Where these guys are going, I don't know. But if their next one is half as strong as this first track, they are nearly there.

5. Lonesome Town – Paul McCartney – The problem with his new album is if it feels it as hard as he felt his rock and roll album, he can't seem to break through the emotional barriers he needs to in order to share. This Ricky Nelson song, off Paul's first album release after Linda's death, is a very powerful look into a widower's world of loneliness.

6. Hey Sexy – Die Antwood – OK, I'll bite: sing song rap weirdness with a rapper who has been hitting the helium too hard.

7.Off To The Races – Lana del ray

8. Balcony – Craig Finn – This is a wonderful POV song: we are looking at Craig, looking at a girl, leaving him. "I saw you and him on the balcony, it was the same thing that you do to me".

9. Out The Door – Ben Kweller – The poor man's Conor Oberst can write a song. He just can't arrange one.

10. Amazing Love – Fred Hammond – The backing vocals kinda distract at first but after awhile sound like angel glancing off him in the background.
