1. Darling, I Do – Langdon Pig and Lucy Schwartz -I don't remember it from "Shrek 4" at all -of course, the last of the series was such a dog, most of it has drifted out of my memory files. Lucy sang a lovely version of this Tuesday night and all I can add is, the recorded version of the pas de deus is quite its equals.
2. My Valentine – Paul McCartney – this song is a blue note downbeat track and Macca does something he doesn't do often: he sings it wrong. The song can't decide how light or heavy to be. The attack is all wrong. A disappointment.
3. Midnight City – M83 – From one of my faves of 2011, a terrific dance vibe rock out of intense proportions.
4. Stars Are Blind – Paris Hilton – This reggae tinged overproduced number tells us at least one thing about Paris: she has pretty good taste in material.
5. She made All the Difference – Jack Phillips – Phillips shows off his jazz chops, with the addition of a terrific horn.
6. Titanium (feat Sia) – David Guetta – I am not sure if this is the triumph of Guetta's hidden dephs or Sia's to bring grace to everything she touches. But I don't think it is both.
7. When I'm On Pills Anthony Green – Song title of the ear.
8. Comeback Kid – Sleigh Kid – Seriously addictive, especially those beats which echo ever upwards,
9. Go Crazy – Think Sound – Phive
10. Mariachi – Ani Difranco – She could always write a retty melody when the mood took her, it's just that the mood doesn't take her often enough.
