There is something so mindbogglingly inappropriate in all this charity for Haiti stuff and I think very near the top of the list is Simon Cowell’s wretchedly tone deaf decision to use REM’s “Everybody Hurts” as a Live Aid type singalong a Haiti cover.

Does he think this is like breaking up with your girlfriend or mourning the death of you father??? The country is in complete anarchy, they have no currency, they have no food, they have no water, and you want to help by sending the proceeds from a cover of “Everybody Hurts”. At least make it “End Of The World As We Know”.
Cowell is trying to get Macca to sing lead. I guess anything is better then the completely crappy song he wrote for the deNiro movie.
Oh, and as long as I am reviewing songs without hearing em may I be the first to say the Jay-Z-Bono Haiti charity song “Stranded” as in “We’re not gonna leave you stranded” (subtitled: “Haiti, Mon Amore” -that would be Jigga’s two cents no doubt) is the worst song ever written by any one about anything ever.
