MFT 1-13-12

1. America – Deuce – Rap rocker, rocks instead of raps and comes uop with the best rock song so far this year. The weakness is the average new rock problem, the song isn't all there. But the performance is invigorating and the vocal is all that.

2.Can We Really Party Tonight – Jonathan Wilson – If I am gonna hear neo-folk in 2012, better this guy then the Bon Ivers of the world. A gorgeous acoustic guitar number.

3. Livin' It Up – Ja Rule – If you are convinced that Rule was over rated, give them another listen. Not just the sample, but the rap itself is first rate.

4. All My Friends – LCD Soundsystem – "So what next, James?" "The rest of my life starting April 2nd".

5. Portrait In Black And Blue – King Krule – Low key, soundscape in the darkest of hues.

6. The Dove – Caspian – Heavy duty prog ambient music.

7. Fall On Your Knees David crowder band – This is the best rock and roll I've heard all years. Perhaps its religious based humility undercuts the bombast so well, what might be annoying in so many other bands, works on this.

8. Go Girl – Yo Gotti – The second track I really like off his album.

9. Remember Me – Little Willies

10. Cosmogony – Bjork – It sounds very unsonglike. It sounds like it is being constructed around an idea not a melody.
