Barry Adamson's New Song "Destination" Reviewed

Barry Adamson played bass on one of my fave albums of all time, Magazine's The Correct Use Of Soap and followed that with a stint in Nick Cave's Bad Seeds. Which would make him big time, even if he hadn't changed direction and written music for non existent film noir like Moss Side Story.

The Manchester, England native hasn't released any new material since 2008 but if the first song off I Will Set You Free, "Destination" is anything to go by, this is gonna be one of his greatest.

"Destination" is  a rollicking Goth rave up off his February 14th release. Everything thing about it grabs your attention, from its overexcited Scott Walker vocals to its slap clap drum machine and most of all a piano that seems hijacked off a Ziggy Stardust track.

It's like glamgoth! It explodes in energy through a song that could be taken much slower, much more atmospheric. Adamson has definitely fallen through a musical rabbit hall: it appears to be here but I don't know why it is here, it isn't of the now. A terrific shocker of a song.
