1. I Say A Little Prayer – Dionne Warwick – In the verses, Dionne floats above the mundane day only interrupted by supplications. In the chorus, her life revolves around her love. A highly literate ode to obsession.
2. Copper Can – Falu – Haunted super-strength rock ballad with Eastern promise.
3. Heart On Fire – Scars On 45 – English style big sounding rock band plus male/female lead singers.
4. I Wouldn't Normally Do This Kind Of Thing – Pet Shop Boys – This sounds so good, reminds you why PSB is one of the greatest bands of all time.
5. It's Real – Real Estate – Exemplifies an indie populist blandness. Opening for Girls next week.
6. Happiness – Rhett Butler
7. A Song For You – Amy Winehouse – A perfect version: a dusky painfulness that won't stop tugging.
8.Dark Matter with choir and organ – Bjork – I am not sure who her target demo for this weirdly ambient walls of voices and sound scraping.
9. Final Form – Lianne La Havas – It isn't folk, the back beat accentuates too much.
10. Livin' In the Future – Bruce Springsteen – Best line: "opened up my heart to you, got all damaged and undone…"
