Must See Concert: Falu At Joe's Pub, Tuesday, January 12th, 2012

Falu is one of the greats of modern pop, but she hasn't broken through quite yet, despite playing for the President (yes, that one) in 2010 and my own fanboy crush on the great woman.

I've only seen her live twice, but then that is out of a possible three times so i don't feel thaaaaaaat neglectful.Falu plays Indian songs from a Western perspective. it is neither nor, it is, indeed, elements of both culures and it is awesome.

Her self titled debut album dates from 2007 and it is just a thing of intense beauty and wonder. Every song is killer but if you wanna practise with just one, try "Copper Can". In 2011, I heard rumors of a Falu sighting at a studio but nothing has come of it so far. She has a couple of more classically inspired Indian music with the Human Tower Ensemble. A remix of "Thane" is pretty damn awesome dance Indian!

Falu is playing (with her husband no doubt) at Joe's Pub this Tuesday at 730pm. I haven't been to Joe Pub's since its reopening from a summer long remodeling and is currently going toe to toe with folks like City Winery. CW is a much bigger room and still seems to be siphoning off Joe's Pub business.

Anyway, $15 and I woulda gone $50 and not blinked (well, maybe blinked). be there, trust me on this one
