1. Tupelo Honey – Van Morrison – Remember when folks wrote love songs like this? And listening to the lyric so many years later, I still don't know what he is going on about but it sure feels deep and catchy. Plus, I've since used "she's alright with me" as an ultimate compliment.
2. Super Bass – Nicki Minaj – She has got the weirdest timbre, it always sounds as if she is making eye contact with the Queen Mother.
3. (I Never Want) To Be A Star – Cat Stevens
4. (Straight To Your Heart) Like A Cannonball – Van Morrisson – Van proves the uselessness of the words to express the deepest of feelings.
5. More Than This – Roxy Music – Who knows if this signifies anything at all? Does it have any deeper meaning? I dunno, but ever since I've heard Bill Murry sing it I've kinda agreed.
6. Steve McQueen – M83 – All the excitement and thrill of, youth? Or a 60s icon riding a motorbike outta POW camp during WW2
7. 50 Words For Snow – Kate Bush – Title track from one of my fave Bush albums. I used to find her a little too hard, a little too difficult to penetrate… but this album split the difference.
8. Syvia Path – Ryan Adams – Piano based deep track off golden album.
9. Tip The Scale – The Roots – Sounds like Ghostface Killah only much worse.
10. Electronic Dream – AraabMusik – Powerful beats over dreamy vocal.
