I wanted to see what the fuss was all about regarding the Zac Brown Band. They did sell 1.3 Million records last year and Rolling Stone gave them a great review (but take that with a grain of salt).
As you know by my prior posts, I write about hard rock/metal bands. But, I do listen to other types of music as well.
So, when I first listened to the Zac Brown Band album “The Foundation” I was a bit taken back by the sound. The description said it was “pop-country”. Not a huge country fan, but I can tolerate it. He does use the fiddle in a few songs, but it is not the same ‘old school’ country music.
I think it is more acoustic southern rock. If you just want to chill outside in the backyard catching some rays and need some good laid back music, than this is the album for you. Check out some of his lyrics….
From the song “Toes”
I got my toes in the water, ass in the sand
Not a worry in the world, a cold beer in my hand
Life is good today. Life is good today.
From the song “Chicken Fried”
To a little bit of chicken fried
Cold beer on a Friday night
A pair of jeans that fit just right
And the radio up
Well I`ve seen the sunrise
See the love in my woman`s eyes
Feel the touch of a precious child
And know a mother`s love
With lyrics like this, how can you not just relax, chill out and savor the moment with a cold brew in your hand. They sure know how to have a good time and enjoy life. I read that they play live for about 3 hours. With one album out, you know they are probably playing some kick ass cover tunes.
So, if you like Jimmy Buffett, Zac Brown Band is for you. If you like the slower acoustic songs of Kid Rock, Zac Brown Band is for you.
