Yup, we are all busy transitioning into a higher state of something or other and all we can do when famous rock stars die is say a fond adieu and grade them. GRADE THEM!!! Well, what can i tell you, it is in the nature of rock nyc to grade and list everything. Alphabetically… So here we go:
Amy Winehouse – This death had it all. Youth, genius, unfulfilled potential and a loss we will all pay for by the extinguising of a true geat. Grade: A+
Clarence Clemons – Lengendary sax man for the E Stret Band, got a great eulogy from his boss. Grade: B+
Don Kirschner – Not just the TV rock shows but…
Gerard Smith – TV On The Radio bassist Grade: A-
Gil Scott-Heron – Rap long before rap was created. Grade: B
Ken Russel – Directed the Who's "Tommy", Roger Daltry's "Litzomania" and the Tchaikovky bio "The Music Lovers". Grade: D
Heavy D – Invented New jack swing. Grade: B
Jackie Levene – Doll By doll leader. Grade: C-
Jerry Leiber – His list of of songs, "Hound Dog" for one, is as long as rock and roll itself. Grade:B-
Jimmy Saville – Howz about that then? Grade: D+
John Barry – Wrote the James Bond theme (that was really him, he told me). Grade: C-
Loleata Holloway – Disco singer Grade: C-
Mikey Welsh – Ex Weezer, artist Grade: B+
Nick Ashford – Soul master. Grade: C+
Poly Styrene – The X-Ray Specs leader went indigo before she was gone Grade: A
Sylvia Robinson – Rap pioneer Grade:C
Vaclev Havel – Rock and roll politician. Grade: D+
