Taylor Swift’s Fairytale Continues

The first original song from Taylor Swift since 2008’s multi-platinum Fearless is off the sountrack to Taylor Swift’s ensemble comedy Valentine’s Day. And to nobodies surprise  Swift hasn’t missed a step on this awesomely catchy, heavy orchestrated and still distinctly Swiftian “Today Was A Fairytale”.

Though her rvoice sounds sweetened it doesn’t come across as fake and though the bells and whistle productions is over the top it works because you can’t make Swift sound fake no matter how hard you might try.

This is her gift, in a world where even the most gifted on singers is killed in overdub after dun, there’s still a naturalness to Swift which cuts through the sound and sings directly. Plus she can write a song and “Fairytale’ would sound quite as good with just an acoustic guitar.

The lyric is a rethinking of the theme from her “Our Song” off her eponymous 2006 album, and though the lyric has the simplicity and directness we associate with Taylor and though they can sound trite on paper she sings, “can you feel there’s magic in the air, could it be the way that you kiss”  on a chrous within the chorus and her voice jumps an octave and the excitement is so real, so gentle, you’re completely sold.

There is nobody in the same league as Swift. Nobody is writing at this level in country. Nobody at all. Taylor isn’t a teenage hype, she won’t disappear, she won’t be an embarassment to her tween fans when they hit their twenties. She is the real deal and this is a perfect song. AGAIN!!!
