1. Blue Skies – Noah And The Whale – It is not simply that this, a lost love lament written by Charlie Fink to former bandmate Laura Marling, is the best song on the album of the same not. Or even the best song Charlie has written before or since. Or better than anything Laura has ever written. Or as good as anything but the best by Ryan Adams. It is the naked emotions that flood this is song, a blue blue song. "This is the last song that I write while still in love of you, this is the last song that I write while you're on my mind".
2. Oh My Sweet Carolina – Ryan Adams – You know how I just wrote any but the best? well, this is the best.
3. Country Dumb – John T. Pearson – What's with the folk revival? Think Mumford will open the door for this guy?
4. Feel So Close (Benny Benassi remix) – Calvin Harris – Benassi is an old time mixer, there is nothing of the dubstep revolution, just industrial strength beats.
5.Old Stone – Laura Marling – One of the best songs off her newbie. As always, I'll take melody over blues riffs.
6. Rivers And Chains – Steve Wynn And the Miracle 3 – You think it's a Velvet Underground rip? Nope, it's a Dream Syndicate rip.
7. Swords of A Thousand Men – Tenpole Tudor
8. Snowman – Kate Bush – The sound of snowflakes falling in a dark corner.
9. Over My Dead Body – Drake – Great song -one of the best of the year.
10. Blue Hawaii Alt 3 – God, I wish I lived in a Presley. Not "Charro" and definitely not "Change of Habit".
