i. Snowflake – Kate Bush – The old adage remains never truer than with Kat: lyric derives meaning through music. As poets go, she is no Emily Bronte, "Wuthering Heights" notwithstanding, and on cold paper, her artistry, all horses walking thru snowdrifts, is a naturalists Patti Smith. But when she sings em they feel like they are revelealing the place where heat is cold.
2. IDGFA – Breathe Carolina – They should re-record it. Much better live.
3. Summer Girls – LFO – The song was always sad, tinged in nostalgia, but the "when I met you I said my name is Rich…" has a tinge of real loss since Cronin died at the way too early age of 36.
4. You've Got The Love – Florence + The Machine – Easy going soul rock, hinting at what was still tp come.
5. Lowa – Plies – two tracks counter attacking, two voices echoing each other.
6. Disppeared – Trampled By Turtles – Banjo powered indie folk rock plus… violin break?
7. You DA One – Rihanna – Best song off the newbie.
8. Weapons – Dad Rocks!
10. Smells Like Teen Spirit – The Muppets – This is a pretty great arrangement."oh no, I know a dirty word" has never been fraught with so much dread!
