In 1982, tix to a new Clash tour weren't moving fast enough, so Clash manager Bernie Rhoades (who I met once and hated on sight) told Strummer to disappear and Rhodes would alert the press and the resulting media coverage would help move tix. So Strummer disappeared and for weeks couldn't be found till he showed up running a marathon in the Streets of Paris.
Thirty years later, the excellent French actress Julie Delpy is directing a movie based upon Strummer's lost time.
Often, when you hear about bio-pics you just kinda shake your head, but this sounds pretty good. Remember "Agatha"? About Agatha Christies disappearance after her husband told her he wanted a divorce. Vanessa Redgrave and Dustin Hoffman (I know, but it works). This one, called "The Right Profile" (though quite what Montgomery Clift has to do with it, I am not sure), sounds very interesting..Really, they can do just about anything they want with Strummer.
