Singles Going Steady, Week Of November 17th, 2011

The Parachute Chronicles II – Gym Class Heroes – Absolutely, "Stereo Hearts" is a great single -released in June. The following three songs off this album sung without a trace and you can hear well. For pop-hip hop, it is neither poppy or hoppy enough. Grade: B-

Chipwrecked – The Chipmunks – Now That's what I call pop on helium. Grade: C

The Sound Of A Million Dreams – David Nail – Country blues. And not the best of them. Grade: B-

Born Again: Miracles Edition – Newsboys – I've got nothing against Christianity. To each his own and God against all, I say. But why does rock and roll Godheads suck and Gospel don't. These guys have been around for decades and they've always sucked. Grade: C-

Get Along (Live)- Tegan and Sara – How these abysmal folkies have the audacity to say one word against Tyler, the Creator is beyond. There is no excuse for this tedious, badly written strum rocl. Grade: D+

Concerto: One Night In Central Park – Andrea Bocelli – Being blind is one thing, deaf something else entirely. Is to opera what Celine Dion is to pop: high culture for spoon and bread. Grade: C-

Brava – Paulina Rubio – Mainstream Latin pop and not hard enough at. Grade: B

Featuring Myles Kennedy – Slash – I admit that Slash is a great metal guitarist, throwing in notes after notes between riffs and with one of the sweetest tones known to man. But his material sucks big time and he can't find a singer as good as Axl. Releasing live albums is a pretty good idea. Grade: B

Live In London – Randy Newman – Randy has such an unreal back catalog he can go on stage and ignore entire albums and his Disney output and still kill. Grade" A-

Quadrophenia – The Who – If it wasn't for Smile, this would be the rerelease of the year. The album is a masterpiece, the extra demos wonderful and exciting and so good to hear Townsend handle the vocals. Grade: A
