"Cape Canaveral". I absolutely love it. The tune just feels so significant, a fond loving thought. It's completely gorgeous.
The song almost feels like a memory trapped in time. One of a cool and possibly snowy holiday. It has a comfortable and smooth feel. It reminds me of a time with my family, or maybe even coming home or going to a familial gathering. The song captures that excited feeling where you know that you're loved. The tone that's set is one of a pleasant reverence and makes me really get into Conor's head, while not interrupting my own trip down memory lane. It's an absolutely brilliant song musically. It builds up to a point where you can't help but smile.
Conor's voice is at one of his all time bests. It's strong and powerful. In a lot of his songs, his voice is shaky and emotional, because that's the mood of the song. Here I feel that even though he didn't sing that way, it fit because it'd feel different if his voice was shaky. Ienjoy how he changed the emphasis like that. The tune is fun to hum along to; the melody is addictive and beautiful.
This song doesn't fall short at all of Conor Oberst's genius. It's a brilliant tune that shows that he is just as fantastic as he was years ago. He's an absolute musical virtuoso that never dissappoints.
