Bright Eyes to Cover White Stripe's "We're Going To Be Friends" For Charity

Admittedly I'm not a fan but my fave White Stripes song has always been "We're Gonna Be Friends". And I can't think of a better marriage of song and singer than "Friends" and Conor and it has happened.

According to pitchfork, a new album of school themed songs is to be released in support of the Lunchbox Fund. The Lunchbox Fund provides meals for teenagers in South African High Schools. As Hannah Arendt once wrote about free breakfasts in American School, "even Einstein couldn't study on am empty stomach".

So this is a wonderful charity, and the album is called  Cool for School: For the Benefit of the Lunchbox Fund.

Here is the track list:

01 Bright Eyes with First Aid Kit: "We're Going to Be Friends" (White Stripes cover)
02 Luke Rathborne: "I Hate My School" (Redd Kross cover)
03 Albert Hammond Jr.: "Thirteen" (Big Star cover)
04 Jenny O.: "Happiest Days/Another Brick in the Wall" (Pink Floyd cover)
05 Joseph Arthur: "Keep on Rockin' in the Free World" (Neil Young cover)
06 Angela McCluskey with Kraig Johnson: "We Rule the School" (Belle & Sebastian cover)
07 Rain Phoenix and Jonathan Wilson: "Coat of Many Colors" (Dolly Parton cover)
08 Craig Wedren and Pink Ape: "Headmasters Ritual" (The Smiths cover)
09 Fences: "School" (Nirvana cover)
10  Cobra Starship with Jump Into The Gospel: "The Future's So Bright, I Gotta Wear Shades" (Timbuk 3 cover)
