I haven't seen Portishead since July 1997, when they played Roseland with the New York Philharmonic. Thought they were a little draggy but it won't stop me from checking em out on Wednesday at the Hammerstein Ballroom.
Monday – Rodney Crowell – BB Kings – The country great never broke pop the way he should have. Haven't seen him live in years but he used to be great.
Tuesday – The Horrors – Webster Hall – Their latest, Skying, is excellent. Hope I don't forget it at the end of the year.
Thursday – Bryan Ferry – Beacon Theater – I caught him on the Mamouna tour years ago and thought he was great. I am less keen on his current album but I expect him to be first rate.
Friday – Big Sean – Starland Ballroom – Big Sean's album didn't make the big splash it was made to. It was still good enoigh to make it worth the while to catch the rapper live.
Saturday – Screaming Females – Bowery Ballroom – Plus Shellac and Hilly Eye! And my birthday!! Don't worry about buying a gifts, tens and twenties will do fine.
Sunday – The Lemonheads – Bowery Ballroom – Performing "It's A Shame About Ray" no less!!!
