The Gram Parsons Foundation Announce gramparsons.com

The Gram Parsons Foundation, headed up by Gram's daughter Polly Parsons, have announced the launch of a website for all things Parsonish, gramparsons.com.

I can't be a bigger fan of this man. If all he did was GP and Grievous Angels his name would be legendary. But, he joined the Byrds and released the first country album, an album the Eagles copied and never came close to getting it right, Sweetheart Of The Rodeo. Because of contractual problems, Parsons vocals were taken off the finished album but their is edition from 2003 and you can hear Parsons lead on "The Christian Life" and "You're Still On My Mind".

If you've read Keith Richards "Life" you wouldn't be able but love Gram. When writing about his best friend and fellow junkie, the years just fall away and the images are sharp and loving and clear. Never more so than when Richards writes about Gram and he going cold turkey in the bed, shitting themselves, throwing up. Horrifying and so strange to do it with another person.

Parson OD'd in 1973 and his daughter Polly was an unconscionable 7 years old. But she has kept his memory all these years and is the guiding light for the website: In a welcome note on the website she has written: "Over the last few years, fans have been requesting for an official online destination to connect with my father and his music. My sincere wish is that this site becomes a wonderful place to visit, hang a while, read stories from those closest to him and the musicians that love him, listen to music, learn about and BE with Gram. My father would love to know you're visiting!”

The video is of an interview with Polly dating from 2004.
