Sweet Talkin’ Mike Nessing Has His Ipod On Shuffle Again

1) Sweet Talkin Woman-ELO Wow, I can’t believe I even have a copy of this. Can’t stand Jeff Lynne. Now I remember, I used to frequent this message board where they have polls for best song in any given year. One guy compiled all the nominees and uploaded them. What an exhausting undertaking. This actually starts off promising but fizzles at the end. All Jeff Lynne stuff sounds the same to me. Even his work with other artists.

2) She Knows Me Too Well-Take #16 Beach boys TODAY! Sessions.
That was a good one, they got through the whole take. But Brian is barking out orders at the end so they’re not quite there yet.

3) Right Now-Manassas The band is wicked tight but Manassas had such terrible songs. This one as at least fast and has a cool pedal steel solo.

4) Cadillac-T Rex- What the kids used to dance to.

5) You Belong To Me -Elvis Costello and The Attractions (Live 1977) -Possibly the tightest pop combo on the face of the earth at that time.

6) All Dressed Up For School (1st vocal Overdub) Beach boys-Also from the TODAY! Sessions, this one didn’t even make it on the album. Brian Wilson would recycle the tune later in “I Just Got My Pay” , which conversely never made it onto an album either.

7) Kizza Me-Big Star – One of the greatest and most influential bands in pop history. Opening track from their third album that has multiple titles depending on which version you have.

8) Candle In The Wind – Elton John. The original version from Honky Chateau is pretty damn great, the “woah woah” backing vox are gigantic. Yeah I know I’m sick of the song too.

9) Sittin’ And Thinkin”- Ray Price- One of my recently discovered favorites. Anybody that rhymes Gin and Girlfriend ya just gotta respect.

10) Bank Robber-Clash (live) Awesome live version, Thanks, Helen.

11) Super Bad – James Brown “Watch Me! Huh! I Got It!” When he starts the second verse I swear I can hear him LUNGE for the microphone so that he doesn’t miss his cue. The greatest pure entertainer of all time. No one can match his stamina.

12) The Wanton Song-Led Zeppelin- Ultimate power trio in back of Plant. Page laying down multiple guitar tracks. Overplayed but undeniable.

13) Substitute-The Who- Blows “The Wanton Song” away.
