In support of his October 11th release first album in years Ashes And Fire (currently streaming on NPR per brooklynvegan), the great country-folkie-rocker Ryan Adams is playing Carnegie Hall, December 6th and talk about a must see.
I've seen Adams twice and he blew me away both times. A career spanning Deacon Theater show followed by his excellent support slot in December 2008, opening for Oasis, and riding one of his great albums, Cardinology.
Adams can work quietly or in psuedo Neil Young Crazy Horse land, he is comfortable with most rock idioms and when in the right mood he is charming on stage. And when not… I saw Whiskeytown opening for John Fogerty and Ryan memorably said: "It's so sad when one of your heroes turns out to be an asshole" after being fired from the tour.
I think it is a must, must, must see in a league with Rufus Wainwright at the same venue nearly a year prior.
