1. Please Please Please – Fiona Apple – I know tou think the title track is the best off her last album BUT YOU'RE WRONG. Here she rhymes "melodies" with "maladies"-so there.

2. Oxford Comma – Vampire Weekend – Critics loved this because they knew what it meant, listeners loved it for its syncopated rhythm.

3. Things Have Changed  – Notorious B.I.G. – A genuinely terrifying vision of urban hell.

4.  Everyday People – Sly And the Family Stone – One of the warmest songs ever written. A true anthem for all of us.

5. Bubbly – Colbie Caillet – "Will you count me in…?" Her first smash. By now I know if she is any good in concert.

6. No Regrets – Dabby – This is the top single in the UK and from the sample to the backing tracking to the mighty fine rap it is a revelation.

7. The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore – The Walker Brothers – Scott Walker is the extremely handsome, distinctly eccentric baritone who lead this band to hit after hit. The orchestration is pure Phil Spector, refracted to a teen audience.

8. Red Nation – Game

9. Linus Spearhead – Wavves – Was I too tough on em yesterday? I feel like a spurned lover. This is a catchy mofo -great hook.

10. I Love You, Porgy – Miles Davis with Gil Evans
