1. Come Dancing – The Kinks – This is soooo classic: really, Ray is one of the greatest songwriters ever. 15 years past his prime, this is such a moving, nostalgic remembrance of things past and the change in tone when the dancehall is knocked down is sheer brilliance: it's like waking up from a lovely dream to a nightmare world. And the ending brings it all the way back

2. Mona – The Beach Boys – The simpliest of hooks – just repeating a word three times, and a delicious melody.

3. Street Generation – Barb Wire Dolls – Greece's answer to the Plasmatics.

4. Wide Open Spaces – Dixie Chicks – I'm not a fan but this is as good as they get and it's not bad.

5. West End Blues – Louis Armstrong

6. We Are The Clash – The Clash – Their only great post-Mick Jones moment.

7. Stop Your Sobbing – The Pretenders – Very credible cover off their first album

8. How It Ended – The Drums – Last song off the excellent new album.

9. Under My Nose – Fucked Up – Hmmmm, I've been ragging on the album for months but I could be wrong because this is clicking in.

10. Grenade  – Delilah
