Wavves And Fucked Up at Webster Hall, Saturday September 24th, 2011 – If you only see one concert this year, maybe make it this one. Wavves performed the best set I saw last year and if you have read Akyson on Fucked Up, you'll know how great they are.
Monday – The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart – Bowery Ballroom – The second album was too more of the same for my taste, and deeply emotional power pop will only get you so far. Still, they are good live.
Tuesday – Orchestral Maneuvers In The Dark – The best synth band of the lot are back, you know, the ones that name their songs after planes that drop atom bombs
Wednesday – Beirut – T5 – Hmmm, T5 on hump day on one hand, a great new album, The Rip Tide, on the other…
Thursday – Wilco With Nick Lowe – Centrak Park – Would I go? Mah. But if you like Wilco, Nick Lowe is more than a plus one.
Friday – The Rapture At Webster Hall – Heavily arranged rock and their newbie is a testament to their abilities.
Sunday – Mobb Depp And Lloyd Banks – Webster Hall – Two top rappers
