Donny Osmond next Project: A Syndicated Radio Program

I have been planning to write about families in music since the new years but haven’t been able to get the angle right. I was going to begin by comparing the career trajectory of the Osmonds with the Jackson 5. Specifically, Donny with Michael.

Sure one was a pop superstar and the other a mediocre talent but also, now one of the stories is over, one appears to have managed to maintain a satisfactory life and the other OD’d. I wonder how much family and religion had to do with it.

I mention this because, after winning Dancing With the Stars, Donny Osmond is completing his return to prominance with a radio program syndicated in sixty markets. “The daytime show is aimed at a wide audience, but primarily women who listen to the adult contemporary or classic hits during the day, at work or elsewhere.” Donny said to the Times Herald record. “It really gives ownership to the listener, and that’s what we’re trying to do is get them through the workday with some great music and some fun stories, little anecdotes and a very positive outlook in the five hours I’ll be programming,”

I will get around to the happy rock families at some point.
