After he died the black community reclaimed Michael Jackson as one of their own. And maybe he was one of their own but whatever he might claim, what “it don’t matter if you’re black or white” he might sing, in the end he bleached his skin white and he had a white woman and a white man provide him with surrogate children.
I have no explanation for MJ’s aversion to kis skin permutations but I know it is a lie to claim otherwise. You don’t straighten your hair, have umpteen operations on your nose and lips, even bleach your penis (hence the disfiguration of his penis that was used by one of the children he molested to prove the child had actually seen his penis.
What did MJ want to be? It seems that he wanted to be a white woman. Why? Again, I can only speculate but I would guess it is part of a rejection of his youth where he was beaten by his father and made to work unceasingly. That might do it, right? I mean, look what happened to Brian Wilson with a similarly abusive father?
The story is reported is that he had terrible acne as a teenager -a claim photographs would seem to back up, and went to a demertologist because of that. But there is too much other stuff, too many places where he went to hide from his blackness.
But the dislike of his blackness appears to have aesthetic and not political. He worked with the major black artists of his day (he seduced Quincy Jones into collaborating) and his last album of original featured one Ted reily of Blackstreet fame.
So he obviously didn’t hates per se. Rather, whatever he wanted to see when he looked in the mirror wasn’t what was there. It is pretty sad stuff because circa Off The Wall, MJ was one of the best looking guys in the biz. But he couldn’t get past his blackness, he didn’t want to be the man who is father to the son. More than anything MJ wanted to a different person that that small black kid from Gary, Indiana. Not because he hated blacks but because he hated himself. And in a sense it was not dissiliar to the way, say, Bowie, reinvented himself with every album though MJ was not doing it for art but for some sort of weird self-psycho therapy.
MJ ended up looking like a monster, he ended up looking on the outside he was on the inside.
And after he died the black community took he back as they should have. It wasn’t them MJ hated. It was himself.
