Not for nothing but, dag, Kirsten Kennis ain't bad looking. The cool, calm, upper middle class, I think she might just have been a Contra cover star of the Vampire Weekend sophomore effort has settle with the band out of court.
So what happened?
Nobody knows but here's a guess. They paid Kirsten off. And should have, you cam't really get away with that now can you? But it was probably worth the bucks. In a year (2011) of crappy pop songs by indie bands who should've known better, Contra still feels like last year's best is this year's best. And the pink distancing of the cover, the 80's pix looks like a memory of a memory.
