In an interview with Steve Marinucci of the San Francisco Examiner on Thursday, Mickey Dolenz put the record straight(ish) on the cancellation of the remainer of the Monkees tour. 1. It wasn't Mickey's voice (which he claims was excellent after touring in "Hairspray though I thought it sucked).
2. He isn't sick.
3. No rehab. "Horseshit" is the word Mickey used.
4. The various Monkees were getting along fine.
So what was it? I tend to agree wth Mike Nessing's assessment. Ticket sales stopped them, pure and simple.
The Monkees sold out the Beacon theater here and I thought they were pretty darn good.
Let's hope we see em again.
