Artist Vs Poet Cover "Mean" reviewed

I heavily dread listening to anything a band that I've liked previously after they've dropped a few members, or gotten new ones.

Artist Vs. Poet released a cover of Taylor Swift's "Mean".  I was relieved that they didn't release something of their own, because a cover is a cover.  I expected it to be good simply because the band didn't write it, so it can't be too different from anything they'd done previously.

I've never heard the original version, so I don't know if there are continuity errors or if it's exactly like the real one, so I can't judge it on that but the first time I heard it I liked it.  Looking past the fact it was originally written by… Taylor Swift, who I'm definitely not a fan of, and that it's totally not the same AVP I'm used to, I sat an enjoyed it.  It's catchy, fun and upbeat.

However, I'm not a big fan.  Considering it was a free download, I don't mind at all, but there's something about it that I just can't get into.  There's only three of them in the band now, so it could be the lineup change, or it could just be the fact that the members missing were the truly talented ones.

Either way, it sounds something like they'd write, it's typical.  But, as soon as I listened to the second time, I hated it.

I'm torn.  I just can't get into the new Artist Vs. Poet.   The 'tweet for track' bit was disturbing as well.
