The Worst Of 2009: Gobble Gobble Hey

Working On A Dream – Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band
It takes a lot to make an album this bad. You have to deeply believe in it, you must be a meglamaniac monster who nobody dare disagree with, you must be completely out of touch with your muse. This isn’t hackwork, hackwork has the fun of somebody just not caring. This is a deeply misguided and very poorly written though  well played and well executed waste. It doesn’t have one good song -indeed, it has another lousy one, “Wrecking Ball”, not on it. Baffling enough, Bruce played his best concerts maybe ever this year.
No Line On The Horizon – U2 – This has one good song, which is why it doesn’t win worst album of the year award. “But “Boots” does not an album make and the rest of this slodgy overproduced dreck is not worth the effort of condemning. Between the two of them they garnered a total of ten stars from Rolling Stone.
This Is It – Michael Jackson
The closest MJ ever got to product as shoddy as this in his solo career was HIStory and HIStory is a million times better than this rip off demos and rehearsal tapes. I certainly hope SONY have more than this shit in the vaults or it’s gonna be a long, long decade.
The Blueprint 3 – Jay-Z
I’ll give him “Run This Town” and I’ll admit he touched a nerve with “Empire State Of Mind” if he’ll admit this is stale product and he just doesn’t care any more.
Lotusflow3 – Prince
Thought we’d forgotten about this humongous mess of an album after album after some chick named after cheese.
