I read about Kelly Hall-Tomkins in the New York Times around a week ago. She is the professional violinists who has been playing at homeless shelters for the past five years. Ms. Hall-Tompkins plays in the New Jersey Philharmonic when she is not performing good works for the homeless in a company called “Food For The Soul”
They play stuff like Schubert, well known string pieces, or stuff other performers who work with her might need to rehease for a paid gig.
Kelly said: “The artists are just as moved as the people we we are surpposed to be trying to help”.
This is a wonderful idea and I know if I was homeless I would be overwhelmed by the experience. I wonder how the shelters would take to Titus Andronicus?
