My Fave Tracks, Saturday, June 2nd, 2011

1. Unchain Me – Lil B -Interesting fellow this Lil B, but this twisted lil rap would work better with a better sample. Plus? enough with the memoir song.

2. When the Sun Goes Down – Selena Gomez And The Scene – Shhhh: producer at work.  The vocals are tweaked, so is everything else, and the beat is very pure four   on the floor.  Even the song sounds like it was written by committee. Gotta problem?

3.  Together You And I – Dolly Parton – On the other hand, the vocals here are pure Dolly and the band country swingers. Certainly nothing to do with a committee and no better than Selena. A compliment to both.

4. Gone And Dusted Away – Johanna And the Dusty Floor –  A hausting miasma of sound and ambience. Lovely and haunting just like this strange album but that doesn't merely not catch the essence of their live performance, but is a strange departure into a Goth beauy that sounds like what I imagine Emily Bronte would be recording today if she was a pianist and not a poet).

5. So Far – The Feelies – In anticipation of tomorrow's gig, I just bought their April release from which this is the title track. Still distracted folk but without the crazy rhtyhms.

6. Here For A Good Time – George Strait

7. He Called Himself Dan – Pan Am –  A Western style post-power-pop romp.

8. Shame (feat Eve and the A Group) – jill Scott – I dunno, King, this chick, all these jazz flicked r&bers : all remind me of badu.

9. Holocene – Bon Iver

10.  Last friday Night – Katy Perry – I got it: Katy is obsessed with a teenagerhood who whacked out parents denied her.
