There are two types of soundtrack albums (2 and 1/2 actually). Let's call it the Help USA syndrome.
1. Incidental music
2. Songs from the movie
And
2 1/2. Songs inspired by the movies.
# 1 is played by the George Martin Orchestra, composed by Ken Thome's and includes toetappers like "From Me to You Fantasy" (instrumental) (Lennon/McCartney; arranged by Thome)
# 2 would include "Help", "Another Girl" -songs from the album.
# 3 would have us forgetting the Beatles and thinking of the indie inspired by soundtrack by folks like Muse and Paramore with no real connection to the movie except they all suck.
Me, I've been listening to # 1 a lot, the soundtrack to "Another Earth" by Fall On Your Sword. FAYS are the brains behind the multi media "Captain Of the Mountain" -a song so weird it is borderline novelty. The soundtrack to "Another World" is play on your nerves, electronic mood enhancers and after you watch the movie and return to the soundtrack everything seems to fringe your memory. It is so good once you've seen the movie, it seems to be triggering your memories.
I will review both closer to the release date.
