Speaking of not buying albums, I am four tracks deep into Screaming Females April 2009 album Power Move and pretty impressed. The sound changes from track to track but on “Skull” they take a blues riff and ride it for three minutes, sorta like Led Zep as played by Sleater Kinney.
On Screaming Females most popular track “Bell” they start very punk pop 1977, a melodic thrash, then turn left into prog in the middle but with a steady fast back beat.
The lead vocalist has a detached, tough voice and she can scream in tune which always helps.
Screaming Females came outta New Jersey in 2006 and broke through this year, opening for Arctic Monkeys at Terminal 54 and Jeff the Brotherhood.
Now I think i should buy more tracks off their album..
