Avenue Q is Quite Awesome

Some people automatically put musicals aside considering they're cliche or boring or are commonly seen as 'lame'.  However, there's a musical that even people who aren't 'weirdo theatre kids' enjoy.

A show called Avenue Q, which has Sesame Street style puppets, eleven of them and three human actors.  It's won over 10 awards, and been nominated for about 25.  It opened in March 2003 and has grown to be one of, in my opinion, the best musicals of all time.

The songs deal with topics that are a bit touchy and modern.  From dealing with being gay, to racism, then having more heartfelt songs, Avenue Q is a diverse show.

"There's A Fine, Fine Line" is a song that is sung by the character Kate Monster about dealing with finding out the boy she loves doesn't feel the same, and shows she's having human problems.

"Everyone's a Little Bit Racist" is a hilarious tune about how everyone truly makes assumptions based on the race of others, and it's amusing and offensive because it totally happens.

The story is funny and cute, and the music isn't that totally stereotypically 'stupid'-Broadway-showtune.  If you usually don't enjoy musicals, you should give Avenue Q a shot.  There's something for everyone.
