I rambled, as I normally do, into Sullivan Hall, ( which I never do) Thursday night to see some new bands; always looking for that diamond in the rough.
What I found was Dude Automatic. FACTS: It was their first show. It was at Sullivan Hall which means shitty sound and not the greatest room acoustics. They still put on a hell of a show.
Dude Automatic is a Alternative rock band from Sea Cliff, Long Island making their debut show in NYC to about 40 people who were all down for the cause. I was instantly hooked, as they sounded like a very very raw version of Sublime, minus the heroin and the westcoast vibes, but nonetheless, I liked it.
Fronted by lead signer, song writer, and guitarist Julian Lee, whom looked the most comfortable onstage outa his crew, the reggae rock keep Sullivan Hall busy well past midnight. I'd love to see these guys with 100 shows under their belt, as I was impressed with what I saw with #1.
Their first CD, "Chronicaster" was released May 19th, and they will continue to play shows into the summer with one scheduled for BK at House of Yes on 7/23 and SeaCliff, for 7/28
