Funny isnt it how music can change everything. It has this sort of amazing sould grabbing power to whip you from happy to sad to pissed off. The Magpies science project for 2010 is actually how different forms of music effect blood pressure. Shes fucking cool.
Me, I don’t need a cuff I can simply tell you.
Bob Segar? Kill me or Im going to kill you. Blue October? Draw the blinds. Weezer? Better clear of that table cuz Im jumpin up to do the jerk.. see its neat isnt it.
But what about songs that take and throw you places you don’t want to go? Yeah, an index finger can change the song but what damage is done before you get to that arrow can really effect your enitre day.
Case in point?
My commute. My commute is a HUGE issue. I work not far away but the traffic is obscene and so prepping to go to the office can be like prepping for a weeks vacation. My car has become a home annex in a sense. What ever song comes on when I turn the key………THAT is how the day is gonna be. I have so much as lowered the volume just in case. BUT and heres the quirk – I cant set it up- it’s a luck of the draw. Im not going to set the pod or the radio to something I ilke. I leave it in the lap of the Gods to paraprase Queen.
So anyway what comes up today? Mr Brightside. By The Killers. K now watch how my mind moves.. FIRST it reminded me of someone… and it made me happy.. then I turned it up and remembered discussing this song with that person..and it made me sorta sad… then I listened to the words and turned it up some more and realized its title should be MISS Brightside then I was pissed as hell. 1 song, 3 minutes, 4 emotions.
For the life of me I cannot understand how some people can listen to music and only dance. What is it in a music fanatics mind that can take notes and chords and tones and allow it to change the entire vibe of a day? I know people who can go all day with no radio. I look around my offices, 90% of these people have no form of music within ear shot. Me? I have a radio, a docking station, the internet, hell even my phone.
