Dawes Laurel Canyon High On Browne

I like the new Dawes album a whole lot and would like it a whole lot more if it didn't sound SO FUCKING MUCH LIKE JACKSON BROWNE.

I am not kidding here. This is bizarre.

Dawes have a habit of doing this to me. If you click the link you will find me comparing em to Crosby, Stills and Nash back in February 2010, more than a year later, "Time Spent In Los Angeles", "MY Way back Home" "Coming Back to A Man" -this is all proto-Browne, all acoustic opening, tip tongue sweet melancholia and girls who still look like Friday night.

Nothing wrong with that, right? Right?

They need to be a bit better. But a second (or is that third) generation Laurel canyon singer songwriter? I wonder what browne makes of it.

Oh ps? This is Jackson not Taylor
