1. NY Is Killing me – Gil Scott-heron and Jamie XX – Interesting if somewhat irritating and superfluous remix off Gil's final album.
2. Moonlight – Bob Dylan – It was a pleasure writing the fave Dylan songs by decade posts. I finally got around to reading the rolling Stone Greatest songs. Of the top 10 songs, 7 are from the 1960s, 2 from the 1970s and 1 from the 1980s. Perhaps Dylan should be less than appreciative of their, frankly, abysmal list. I am thinking of doing a top ten albums (just grading but, why bother grading, if it wasn't an A+ it wouldn't be among the Top 10 albums). If I was to, Love And Theft -from whence this great ballad comes, would be among them. Great line: "the clouds are turning crimson, the leaves fall from the limbs and…"
3. Sealand – Art Brut – this song could be your summer
4. History Lesson Part II – Minutemen – This band could still be your life, you know.
5. Grey Rides – Neil Young International Harvesters – Not bad western twangy but I can't take his voice any more.
6. 1 + 1 – Beyonce
7. Americano – Lady Gaga – Once the dust settles, her album will be conspired very, very good. Even great in places.
8. She (feat Frank Ocean) – Tyler, the Creator – Could be the album of the year.
9. Brighter Than The Sun – Colbie Caillet
10. Love Is the Drug (Soulwax remix) – Roxy Music – Note to Helen: 3min52secs in? That's "Virginia Plain". 10m55secs? "Editions Of You".
