1. My My Life Is Good – Randy Newman – On his current Best of vol II, but get it on the great 1983 album Trouble In Paradise. It is difficult to be as despicable as the rich California asshole who turns his maid into a slave, pokes his friends wife, spoils his fat son rotten and is best friends with "WITH MISTER BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN".
2. The Edge Of Glory – Lady Gaga – this is a great dance number. I keep saying how unambitious it is, but actually, its ambitiousness lies almost purely in its delineated perfections. It is unambitious the way Tavares was unambitious disco. It works completely as what it is in ways neither "Judas" nor "Born This Way" come close. On the dancefloor, on the radio, for just "hanging on a moment" -at this time, the summer of 2012, you can love it completely.
3. Too Late – The Cars – The closest The Cars come to a great song on the latest. And t is good middlebrow new wave cars,. no it doesn't vroom, but it doesn't sputter either. Rather, like the synth solo in the middle, it is smooth and harmless but catchy and not unpleasant.
4. Pine Box – Maynard And the Musties – At the Muse and Music performance, Maynard noted how this was one of the songs about his best friend and steel guitarist who died suddenly and young. It is a vision unique and powerful of his friend in his coffin at his funeral.
6. Rubber Ducky – Inside Out A Capella – I love the bass back up singer. here is Helens' take http://rocknycnew0115.wpengine.com/2011/05/ernie-rubber-ducky-tub-music-for-tub-people.html
7. Hypnotico – Jennifer Lopez
8. Rewrite – Paul Simon – I gotta tell ya man, the urge to rewrite your life in your mind is overwhelming and Simon nails the emotion. Incidentally, three songs on the newbie are really good and the rest are dead ducks. There's your review.
9. (It) Feels So Good – Steven Tyler
10. Jack Sparrow (feat Michael Bolton) – I'm not one for comedy songs, and less one for these guys, but this is very funny stuff with Bolton obsessing on "Pirates Of The Caribbean")
