Arthur Laurents, our direct connect to the golden age of Broadway, is dead at the age of 93. He produced by "West Side Story" and "Gypsy" -two of the greatest musicals of all time and kept working just about till the very, producing revivals of two of his most loved shows for audiences in the 21st century.
"West Side Story", a re-telling of "Romeo And Juliet" informed rock as well as Broadway and "Gypsy" keeps on returning to Broadway all these years later.
In Laurents spare time he wrote the screenplay to "The Way we Were" -based on his novel.
Why he didn't make it into a musical I don't know…
