A coupla days ago Helen Bach wrote a laudatory and not inaccurate post about Elvis Presley. But what comes to mind is how damn cool Presley was, that bemused sneer of his found him deeply complicit in his ultimate uber-coolness. "Thank you very much…" Fast forward and Dave Grohl acts like a needy weasle and people who were cool in the rock sphere, say Paul Mccartney, certainly aren't. Cool is a quality of the mind, it is a way of having an audience solely by your presence (dear), by your lack of neediness she cool success: charm, charisma, and indifference… And rock appears to have lost it
Let's take a look shall we?
Fucked Up – Not cool -cmon, look at em.
Foo Fighters – Not cool
Mumford And Sons – Not cool
Titus Andronicus – Not Cool… Patrick would tell you off if you claimed it
Wavves – Not cool… close but all that ganja is a drag
Saint Motel – Cool -yeah, it is not a typo, these are cool cats. And that makes one.
Yuck – Not cool
Peal Jam – Not remotely cool
Bruce Springsteen – Greedy fuck, no NOT COOL
The Script – not cool
Interpol – Not cool
Pulp – PULP ARE ALWAYS COOL, just not always rock.
Paul Weller – Not cool
The Fall – Another perennial cool band (so I admit there are exceptions)
TV On The Radio – Not cool
Eric Clapton – Not since derek and the Dominos
Van Morrison – Is cool, maybe not rock any more.
Robert Plant – Not cool
Axl Rose – Some quota of cool remains.
Jack White – NOT COOL
I could go on, but you get the concept. From the youngest to the oldest rock is not cool and the result? Teens and 20s are looking to the Jiggas and Weezy's for their swagger.
