My Fave Tracks, Saturday, April 24th, 2011

1. Run The World) (Girls)- Beyonce – I loved her with Destiny's Children but except for the Jigga duet, I have been unmovoed by her solo career. This is a huge exception: this is the state of the art in modern pop, a girl power anthem set to a M.I.A. inspired cum middle eastern flavored beat and a sugar sweet middle 8. Very impressive. Should be HUGE.

2. The Other Shoe – Fucked Up – And on the other side of the pop universe an alternative punk hybrid with a catchy tune.

3. Missing – Eliza Doolittle – And on the other side of the pond they take sampling to its logical extreme and just add their lyric to other people's songs.

4. Virtual Boyfriend – Poly Styrene – The miracle is that she sounds completely up to date  and exactly the same at the same time.

5. Where Not To Look For Freedom – The Belle brigrade – OK, I'll give em this one.

6. Gangsta – Tune-Yards – A complete original uses drums like nobodies business.

7. Automatic – Audrey O'day – A Diddy protegge on an above average dance track.

8. Papi – Jennifer Lopez

9. Til The World Ends – Britney Spears – This six minute blowout, the Bloody Beetroots remix, is better than most of the album.

10. Deterninate – Adam Hicks, bridgette Mindler, etc – If I was a 9 year old i would LOVE THIS.
