Spider Stacy Sets The Record Straight On Titus Andronicus Take Down Of The Pogues

A quick recap.  Titus Andronicus were hired as the opening band for nine dates on the Pogues farewell tour. After the fact, Patrick Stickles complained to spinner.com that the Pogues were horrible to work with (the post just below this details this. I thought Patrick was overreacting but assumed the Pogues were assholes. Spider Stacey took exception. Helen Bach asked Spider to go on record and this was Spider's response

"Well, I really didn't think it merited a response but essentially it's all bullshit. I can see that some of the Pogues might come across as being as being a bit standoffish, (especially before a gig when things can be quite tense wondering which Shane is going to turn up) but all TA had to do was come and say hello. I spoke to both Amy & Patrick on several occasions whenever i ran into them, albeit just before we were going on or as they were leaving.

It's a bit sad really, I booked them through our agent and we were really looking forward to having them along. The whole thing smacks of a certain naivete on their part but i'm sure they'll grow out of it.

I'd planned to go & see them at Hi Ho's here in New Orleans tomorrow night, regardless of their nonsense, but I'm filming my last scenes for HBO's Treme so won't be able to make it.

..I was wondering though, seeing as they set the Ken Burns Civil War series to music are they planning to do the same thing with his history of baseball?

Cheers, Spider

He later added:

"Obviously i'm only speaking for myself here, i really can't imagine the other Pogues are losing any sleep over it at all.."
