Screaming Females Best Of 2009

I was reading brooklynvegan.com when I came acroos a band I didn’t know, Screaming Females (they are opening for Arctic Monkeys, best of 2009 and filled with bands I’d never heard of.

Here is Screaming Females drummer Jarrold Dougherty’s Best of 2009
1. JEFF the brotherhood – Heavy Days

2. Cheeky – What the Heck
3. Stupid Party – s/t
4. Songs for Moms – I Used to Believe in the West
5. Bad Blood – Tongue Twisting Tunes for Tiny Tots
6. Mattress – Babystar Gallactica EP
7. Teenage Cool Kids – Foreign Lands
8. Delay – Plain Language
9. Double Dagger – More

So I researched it a little further and really liked Jeff The Brotherhood’s “Bone Jam” -a trippy, poppy nugget who remind me of someone but it is so early in the morning I can’t remember who.

I also got “Bell” by Screaming Females who lived up to their name except for the females part.

I looked up Screaming Females on Wikipedia and found this: “In their hometown of New Brunswick, NJ, the band has participated and encouraged the survival of an underground, basement housed show circuit, utilizing the houses of various bands and students in order to bypass the over-21 bar scene and bring their music directly to their audience.”

This is such a great idea I am going to try and contact em and find out what’s going on…
